Robinsons | Maternity | Pittsoboro, NC

Mike and Caroline are expecting their first baby, a sweet little girl, in just a week! When trying to decide where to do their engagement session, we figured why not go back where they said their vows – so off to Fearrington House we went! As a new mom myself I can’t wait for these two feel that new, overwhelming kind of love we felt after meeting our own daughter. Caroline and Mike make such a great team, full of love and support, which I have no doubt will carry them through the hardest parts of labor and those first few sleepless weeks with grace.

Mike and Caroline, I’m sending lots of happy thoughts and love your way. I cannot wait to meet your sweet girl in a couple weeks!

Penny | Washington, DC | Newborn

Hard to believe this sweet little one is pushing four months old now! It is always such an honor hearing from past couples that they’re expecting…and being given the opportunity to capture their newest life’s joy. As I got to know them during their engagement and wedding day it was so clear that Becca Jane and Todd are madly in love and make such an amazing team – these two are the real deal, friends. Penny, you are one lucky little lady to have parents as awesome as the two of them! A few favorites of Miss Penny below from her session at just a few weeks old.
These lips. I die. I can’t even handle her cuteness!

Caroline | Richmond, VA | Lifestyle

People ask me all the time, “What is your favorite thing to shoot…weddings, portraits, kids…?” and I seriously can never answer. Typically my knee-jerk reaction to say the last thing I shot because I had such a fun time during it but then I say “oh wait, but I really like weddings too…and kids…and bridals…and well, I love it all!”. This shoot I had with sweet Caroline and her parents just makes my day. I have photographed her since she was in her mama’s belly all the way up until she turned a year old. We waited and waited to book this last shoot in their series in hopes that she would be walking. Caroline was definitely capable of walking but the question that day is did she want to. Such is life with women, eh? Caroline was just in the in between sage as she was mainly afraid of taking steps alone – and of course I heard from her mom that she started walking just two short days after their session…the way it always goes – right parents? :)
I am pretty sure Caroline got an amazing core workout in this position. Kelly, Paul and I died laughing as we made poor Caroline balance there for a a bit in hopes she’d walk over to us when she realized no one was coming to get her. Instead she decide to take a break and sit down. Smart girl :) Huge thanks to Kelly, Paul and Caroline for allowing me to get to know them over the past year and document their family. I am so excited to capture many more of y’alls family moments. I say it’s time for baby #2 ;)

Colt | Destin, Florida | Lifestyle

Back in April I flew down to Destin, Florida to photograph this sweet little guy. I met his mama back in the 6th grade – we were in the same group of friends but after that year I switched schools and we lost touch. Thanks to social media I re-connected with her about 12 years later when I learned she had her own design company and I was starting my business. They adopted their first baby in November of last year and he just won my heart over.  Here are some favorites  of Kelly, Andrew and  their little man Colt.
While social media can sometimes be a distraction in everyday life I am so grateful it allowed me to reconnect with Kelly and document them during such an important time in their lives. Kelly and Andrew, Congratulations on Colt joining your family, he is one lucky kid to have parents like you! Thank you for allowing me to come down and spend the morning with y’all! Hope we get to see each other soon!

p.s. Kelly is an amazing designer – you can visit From Scratch Design and check her out :)

Lucca | Wake Forest , NC | Newborn

It is always such an honor getting that call from past clients asking me document a new chapter in their life. Brittany and John were married a couple years ago and I had the pleasure of documenting their vows at the Art Museum of North Carolina in Raleigh.  Lucca decided to surprise her mom and dad and make her debut a little early at 34 weeks and my goodness she is just perfect. Congratulations Brittany and John!

Welcome Gracie | Richmond, VA | Newborn

I had the pleasure of documenting the Vint family as they welcomed their newest little addition to make them a family of four. Sweet Gracie was just about a week old during this shoot…she was so tiny and oh so perfect. Parker was such a proud big brother as he loved on Gracie for a few photos and even hung out with me to show off his new big kid room full of stripes and airplanes! Please to take a peek at a few favorite moments from little Gracie’s newborn session :)

Charlie turns one!

I recently worked with the talented Erica of Ashely Baber Weddings in planning my sister-in-law’s baby shower (which I’ll share soon) and just loved being around her! We got to chatting about her little boy and turned out he he would be celebrating his first birthday just a few weeks later. During one of my trip to Charlotte the week before his birthday we got together and did a casual shoot of Sweet Charlie around their home….their pugs even made it into a few shots as they monitored my every move, haha.

I am sharing a few favorites of Charlie being sweet, adorable and just hanging out. We kicked off the session with Charlie in one of his dad’s childhood sweaters, too cute, right? Here is to another wonderful, healthy and fun year for little man Charlie!

Yep, Little guy needed a snack break. Modeling sure must be tough work :)

Matt + Sarah are having TWINS! (aka – I’m going to be an AUNTIE!)

I am so so very excited to write this blog post…and for those that follow me on social media probably already know…but my brother-in-law and sister-in-law are having TWINS!!! Which means I get to be an AUNTIE! YAY!!!! And even more exciting, they’re having..TWO GIRLS! Sure, I might be biased, but I think girls are pretty cool ;) The two littlest Kain laides will be making their debut in just a few short weeks!

We took these photos back in November when Sarah was just 21 weeks…now she is approaching 34 weeks! And how adorable is their pup, Finley.

Since Matt + Sarah have a NCSU vs Clemson rivalry in their home, we couldn’t resist incorporating a couple collegiate onesies! Again, I might be a bit biased, but I think the girls will look super cute in red :)
Congratulations Matt + Sarah! I am so excited to be an aunt! We of course would love to have everyone’s happy thoughts and prayers for Sarah to have a safe, healthy and easy delivery. Now I leave you with this gorgeous photo of Sarah below! Let the countdown begin for some serious baby snuggling time!*Sarah’s amazing hair + make-up by Lindsey Regan Thorne

Caroline | Charlottesville, VA | Family

We are going on two years living here in Virginia, I cannot believe how time has flown! So far, we LOVE it! There are so many gorgeous areas here – for this shoot we drove down the road to Charlottesville and made a little visit at an apple orchard. Caroline was as happy as can be picking apples, seriously, how cute is she? She is one happy kid! Seeing her happy smile just warms my heart!
Caroline was so curious of everything around her, she was happy as can be to sit and explore. I must admit once mom and dad let her have an apple she was hooked…which also made for some pretty adorable photos :)
Thanks for fun afternoon at the apple orchards! Oh and yes, sweet Caroline is wearing riding pants. I’m pretty sure she is the most stylish girl in Virginia thanks to her mom!

Morgan Family

Meet the adorable Morgan family…hands down one of my favorite family sessions from 2012. Not only are they adorable but this entire family was super fun to document. The boys are that age where all they wanted to do was run and explore. Most of their session was spent chasing the boys and making them laugh…or should I say they made us laugh. I truly believe when the parents are relaxed, the kids inevitably relax (and have fun!)…allowing me to capture those genuine happy moments where their personalities shine through in the photographs.  Watch out ladies…I have a feeling these boys are going to be a couple of heartbreakers! Thank you Morgan family for a fun afternoon!
