Charlie turns one!

I recently worked with the talented Erica of Ashely Baber Weddings in planning my sister-in-law’s baby shower (which I’ll share soon) and just loved being around her! We got to chatting about her little boy and turned out he he would be celebrating his first birthday just a few weeks later. During one of my trip to Charlotte the week before his birthday we got together and did a casual shoot of Sweet Charlie around their home….their pugs even made it into a few shots as they monitored my every move, haha.

I am sharing a few favorites of Charlie being sweet, adorable and just hanging out. We kicked off the session with Charlie in one of his dad’s childhood sweaters, too cute, right? Here is to another wonderful, healthy and fun year for little man Charlie!

Yep, Little guy needed a snack break. Modeling sure must be tough work :)

Let the Kids Dress Themselves | Featured

I am excited to share that the Morgan Family session I blogged last month is featured on Let the Kids Dress Themselves today! I shared a few words with the blog about why their session was one of my favorites and how I believe each family can get those authentic, relaxed, full of love images from their sessions.

Click HERE to check out the feature and leave some love about your favorite image from the session. You can also take a look back at my original blog post by clicking HERE.

As Abbie with Let The Kids says in this post “…more often than not the best photos are the unplanned ones…” – So true :)

Matt + Sarah are having TWINS! (aka – I’m going to be an AUNTIE!)

I am so so very excited to write this blog post…and for those that follow me on social media probably already know…but my brother-in-law and sister-in-law are having TWINS!!! Which means I get to be an AUNTIE! YAY!!!! And even more exciting, they’re having..TWO GIRLS! Sure, I might be biased, but I think girls are pretty cool ;) The two littlest Kain laides will be making their debut in just a few short weeks!

We took these photos back in November when Sarah was just 21 weeks…now she is approaching 34 weeks! And how adorable is their pup, Finley.

Since Matt + Sarah have a NCSU vs Clemson rivalry in their home, we couldn’t resist incorporating a couple collegiate onesies! Again, I might be a bit biased, but I think the girls will look super cute in red :)
Congratulations Matt + Sarah! I am so excited to be an aunt! We of course would love to have everyone’s happy thoughts and prayers for Sarah to have a safe, healthy and easy delivery. Now I leave you with this gorgeous photo of Sarah below! Let the countdown begin for some serious baby snuggling time!*Sarah’s amazing hair + make-up by Lindsey Regan Thorne

Julie + Rob | Pittsboro, NC | Engaged

This was the last session I shot in 2012. These two traveled from NY and PA to visit family in NC for the holidays and managed to squeeze a little time for me for their engagement session. With all the gorgeous morning light that warms up these photos y’all would have no idea it was only about 25 degrees this morning. We were COLD, but it was totally worth it.
How cute are Julie and Rob. Just from hearing about the plans they’ve made so far, I am so pumped for their summer wedding! Congratulations you two! Thanks for braving the cold with me and for being so darn adorable to photograph!

The Knot DC, Maryland and Virginia | Published

2013 has been off to such a great start! Not sure about you, but I can harley believe how quickly January flew by! I met Amber Housley just over a year ago and we became fast friends. After just spending a day an a half together we dreamed up an inspiration shoot we wanted to collaborate on and made it happen later that spring! We were thrilled to see one of our bouquet images from the shoot published in the latest issue of Southern Weddings Magazine in November and soon after got word that we would have a few more images from that shoot published in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia Regional The Knot Issue. We worked with some amazing vendors on this shoot!

Florals were done by the amazing Holly Chapple
Paper goods and styling by the talented Amber Housley
Cakes by the awesome folks at Charm City Cakes

Be sure to check back soon as we’ll have more images from this inspiration shoot featured on one of our favorite blogs!

Karen + Brian | Durham, NC | Wedding

I am little bit embarrassed to say, but I have a handful of weddings from 2012 that I still need to blog! This wedding was one of my gorgeous weddings from late last summer. Karen and Brian had a lovely day and got ready at the Washington Duke Inn, where they also did their first look. Karen’s sister-in-law (the talented Abbey of Chips and Salsa Design Studio) was in charge of all the gorgeous paper designs. I just loved their city themed that was seen throughout their wedding. If you look closely at their invitations you will notice it says “He said HELLO in North Carolina and said YES on a bridge in London. They are planning a WEDDING from New York City. They will say I DO where it all began”. Perfect and creative, right? Check out a few favorites from their wedding day.
These two had such a sweet first look moment. I am pretty sure they both kept this smile on for the rest of day after seeing each other. Brian absolutely ADORES Karen.

As always the Duke Chapel makes a fabulous backdrop for photos. After a few photos at their ceremony we headed over to the Nasher museum for their reception. Congratulations Karen and Brian! Such a fun day celebrating!

Caroline | Charlottesville, VA | Family

We are going on two years living here in Virginia, I cannot believe how time has flown! So far, we LOVE it! There are so many gorgeous areas here – for this shoot we drove down the road to Charlottesville and made a little visit at an apple orchard. Caroline was as happy as can be picking apples, seriously, how cute is she? She is one happy kid! Seeing her happy smile just warms my heart!
Caroline was so curious of everything around her, she was happy as can be to sit and explore. I must admit once mom and dad let her have an apple she was hooked…which also made for some pretty adorable photos :)
Thanks for fun afternoon at the apple orchards! Oh and yes, sweet Caroline is wearing riding pants. I’m pretty sure she is the most stylish girl in Virginia thanks to her mom!
